Now that you’ve reviewed this website and understand some of the things we’ll be doing this summer, it’s time to setup your personal blog and start to record your thoughts, discoveries and exercises. For this part of the program, I recommend that you use Blogger or Wordpress.com. Both are popular free online blog hosting services are are extremely easy to use.
Here’s a tutorial on how to setup a blog on Blogger. Here’s an overview of the features of Wordpress.com. After reviewing each, just decide which will be best for you. As an aside, Blogger will fully integrate with your Google account if that’s something that’s important to you!
If you run into problems or would like more information about blogs and using Blogger or Wordpress, please check with one of your fellow participants to see what they decided to do!
Now, it’s your turn!
Discovery Exercise:
- Setup a blog for yourself through Blogger or Wordpress.com.
- Add a test post or two. Use one of your test posts to create an entry about last week’s exercises regarding life long learning.
- Register your blog with Andy
- Have fun!
Starting with Thing #5 next week, you will need to include the URL for the permanent link to each of your blog posts that capture your thoughts, comments or findings about your discovery process on the tracking log (netfiles\admin\library\TechLearning\techlearninglog.xlsx). You’ll just need to copy and paste the full URL to each thing’s blog entry.
